HimalayanEcotourism.com Creates New Paradigm In The Way Visitors Enjoy & Interact With The Ecosystem of The Great Himalayan National Park
Experience the Himalayas while at the same time promoting sustainability. HimalayanEcotourism.com has social, economic and environmental goals.
HIMACHAL PRADESH, INDIA, April 14, 2015, Located in the “Green” Himalayas amidst the alpine meadows and the evergreen forests is Himalayan Ecotourism. What they represent is the new face of tourism, a sustainable form of tourism where there is a major effort to keep this pristine, heavenly environment the way nature intended it to be. Unlike other tourism operators, this is a cooperative effort where each member is a partner and shareholder. The 75 members of this coop community are all residents of the ecozone of the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP). Each has varying skills, such as: mountain guides, cooks and porters. By generating income through their tourism operations, they are able to achieve their social, economic and environmental goals.
This is a Social Enterprise where the profits are invested into the community. The local members of the co-operative receive the majority of the revenue. Any profits are invested back into the community in accordance with their Social Enterprise goals.
Himalayan Ecotourism offers guided tours in several regions: The Green Himalayas, Ladakh & Zanskar, and Lahaul & Spiti. The Great Himalayan National Park was recently added to the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The office of Himalayan Ecotourism is within walking distance of the entrance to the park. Ladakh is an Indian territory in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, whose culture is that of Tibetan Buddhism. Zanskar is home of one of the largest mountain chains with peaks reaching heights above 6,000 meters. The elusive snow leopard can be seen in the Hemis National Park. Lahaul and Spiti are situated in the Western Himalayas. This region is located at the gates of Tibet, providing a view into a different biological ecosystem, geological and cultural environment. Travelers will enjoy seeing the oldest Buddhist Monasteries in the world, some more than a thousand years old. The Kye Monastery is one of the most important learning centers of Tibetan Buddhism in the world.
Himalayan Ecotourism offers travelers and explorers a choice of Himalayan experiences. Choose between a Safari experience, Varied experience or an Adventure experience. The Safari experience is ideal for those who have young children, or are a fan of motorcycling and would love to explore on a vintage machine, or for people who really aren’t into making the trek and would rather enjoy a relaxing experience. The Varied experience is available to anyone who has some experience of hiking in the mountains. Some places will involve trekking and hiking. A little effort is all it takes to reach a peak of over 5,000 meters. The Adventure experience requires multi-day hiking experience. Enjoy treks and climbs to almost 6,000 meters. This is several days of trekking for a lifetime of memories.
