To coincide with the Ten Year Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. For anybody that has Volunteered in the Mississippi Gulf Coast; “A Party is being thrown in your honor! Live Music and Free Food to Honor and celebrate how you selflessly served the community.”

Biloxi, Mississippi, August 13, 2015, Gulf Coast residents had seen several Hurricanes in their lifetimes, but nothing to compare to the destruction and devastation caused by Katrina. During the hour of our greatest need, we were helped by the many Volunteers that stepped forward to aid the survivors of the worst disaster on U.S. soil. None of us had ever experienced such compassion and caring as exhibited by the many volunteers, in fact, there have been over 950,000 people that have generously given of themselves. Throngs of caring volunteers have selflessly given of their time and heart to help others, and New Life Disaster Relief is organizing an event to say, “Thanks!!”

“VolunteerFest” will be an event for all to come together……..not only the volunteers, but also a chance for all that have been blessed by the compassionate volunteers to express gratitude. The bond that was formed throughout the years between the volunteers and the community still exists today. None can deny the impact; volunteers and residents alike continually express that it was an enriching experience, touching their very souls. For many have seen that this communion is the work of God.

VolunteerFest will be held at the Biloxi Town Green on August 28, 2015, from 6-9 PM. For all those who feel compelled to be a part of and join the efforts in supporting VolunteerFest, please contact New Life Disaster Relief – 228-596-0390. Financial donations, food donations, and servants hearts are still needed. “Let’s bless em, ya’ll!”

During a recent interview, Ken Wetzel, founder of New Life Disaster Relief, made these comments about the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast, “I know that none of this could have happened without – The provision of God and the compassion of the volunteers. When I say to the volunteers it doesn’t go on without you – I mean it from the bottom of my heart! Through God and the volunteers we have New Life! Thousands of homes have been rebuilt, but even greater lives have been restored. Let us not forget Isaiah 58:12: “Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.”
