Bangkok, Thailand, October 10, 2015, A. Stotz Investment Research (ASIR), a global advisory firm on stock selection and portfolio construction for institutional investors and high-net worth individuals, recently announced its Asian “World Class Company Awards”, part of its pursuit to find the companies in Asia with the best financial performance. This presentation comes from the company’s research operations, which consider the largest 5,000 non-financial companies across Asian markets. To designate a “World Class Company”, the ASIR team considers companies on two measures that matter most in terms of share-price performance: profitability and growth. The researchers call this combined measure, “Profitable Growth”.

The “World Class Company Award” is given to 10 companies, one each from the sectors included in the ASIR team’s studies. Only 4% of 5,000 companies in Asia made it into the final round. All of the companies below stand out among their sector peers for their superior Profitable Growth:

* Consumer Discretionary: PT. Matahari Department Store Tbk., Indonesia

* Consumer Staples: Foshan Haitian Flavouring and Food Co., Ltd., China

* Energy: Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd., China

* Health Care: Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., China

* Industrials: Pilot Corporation, Japan

* Information Technology: COLOPL, Inc., Japan

* Materials: STP&I PCL, Thailand

* Real Estate: PT. Lippo Cikarang Tbk., Indonesia

* Telecommunication Services: KDDI Corporation, Japan

* Utilities: Sound Environmental Resources Co., Ltd., China

In order to identify the Top 10 winners, ASIR considered the position of about 5,000 Asian firms in 10 sectors: Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Energy, Health Care, Industrials, Information Technology, Materials, Real Estate, Telecommunication Services and Utilities. The companies that constituted the universe were listed on any exchange in Asia during 2013-2015YTD and had a market capitalization of at least US$300m as of 25 September 2015. Each company that achieved this designation has maintained itself in the top four deciles relative to sector peers of similar size for both profitability and growth performance, for at least 10 quarters and shown net profit for the past three years on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. In addition, the 10 winners had the highest Profitable Growth score in Asia based on their past 12 months of reported results as of 25 September 2015.

ASIR awarded its inaugural prize in May this year to companies that stood out among their sector peers around the world for their superior Profitable Growth.
