CIC is the most comprehensive conference for small and mid-sized construction and professional services businesses.

Chicago, Illinois, November 2, 2016, The “Construction Industry Conference” (CIC) is the most comprehensive conference for small and mid-sized construction and professional services businesses. Kenneth Osmun, Group President of Construction at Wight & Company, will be its keynote luncheon speaker on November 10, at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Mr. Osmun brings years of expertise in the field. As Group President of Construction at Wight & Company, Ken leads the firm’s construction group and co-leads the multi-disciplinary group of architects, engineers, and construction managers who make up project teams.

Robert P, Theel, FAIA, Chief Architect and Director of the Design & Construction Division for the Great Lakes Region of the General Services Administration is keynoting the conference’s Opening Session. He brings years of expertise in architecture and construction, and has worked with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), AIA Chicago, and the Illinois Institute of Technology.

The 4th annual conference line up also includes many subject area experts that will speak during the conference’s workshops and panels. Additional engagement with these and other key decision makers from many of the firms exhibiting will be available during the ‘Ask The Expert’ and ‘Private Engagement’ sessions.

CIC also brings contracting officers from federal, state, county, and city agencies to discuss procurement opportunities and prime contractors, like sponsors: Pepper Construction and FH Paschen, to discuss sub-contracting opportunities with their organizations.

“The majority of small and mid-sized construction company owners start their business because they are good tradesman, but in many instances, have had limited or no access to information and know-how on what it takes to run a construction business. The conference will help bridge the information gap and deliver valuable resources to these businesses,” says CIC founder Suzanne Stantley.

“Every construction business must be on top of OSHA requirements if they want to operate”, Stantley said. “In August of this year, OSHA had major changes that can significantly impact these businesses, which is why we have added three OSHA workshops to this year’s conference”. Key panels and workshops this year include: “Safety Oversight and Competent Person Requirements for Construction” (with speakers Gilbert Velez and Atty. Robert Shipley); “Five Ways to Get Your First Federal Government Contract” (with speakers Richard Hernandez and GSA’s, Michael Wolff); “OSHA Record keeping” (with speaker William Coulehan); “The Value of Safety, EPA, HR, & Occupational Medicine for the Construction Industry”, “Strategic Partnering….How to Work with Primes and Project Owners” and “Why You Need to Develop a Strategy to Prepare Your Business To Secure Financing” moderated by financial expert, Dwain Speese.

The all-day conference will be held November 10 from 9:00am until 5:00pm at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Hermann Hall, 3241 S. Federal Street. Registration opens at 8:00am and runs until 2:30pm. This information packed day also provides tremendous networking and personal meetings with the exhibitors and presenters.
