The NGMA presents Impact Awards annually to recognize exceptional contributions in advancing the field of grants management, including a positive impact on the professional grants management practice.

Tybee Island, Georgia, July 2, 2017, The National Grants Management Association’s (NGMA) Board of Directors was pleased to present Gloria Shontz as the recipient of the 2017 Impact Award/Private Sector. Gloria is a CPA and President of Capital Management Group, Inc. She was recognized for her contributions to the grants community as a whole, in addition to her outstanding work with a regional hospital located throughout Ohio and Kentucky.

NGMA is a membership association leader in the grants management industry. The association provides tools and resources to grant professionals, including grants management training, professional certification and education, and networking forums for professionals. NGMA serves government, non-profit, and private sector organizations, as well as higher education institutions.

The Awards Recognition Program was held for Gloria and other award recipients as part of the opening ceremonies for the NGMA’s 2017 Annual Grants Training Program at the Crystal Gateway Marriot in Arlington, Virginia.

Ms. Shontz was nominated by Mercy Health Foundation, Cincinnati, Ohio, for her work with Mercy related to their grants management process, including setting goals focused on zero audit findings. According to Alice Parisi, System Director of Grants and Contracts at Mercy Health, she has increased the capabilities of all levels of staff in the area of grants management. Her knowledge of the challenges that organizations face, clear explanations of grants management requirements, and the ability to bridge the gap between regulations and reality, made Gloria an obvious choice for the award.

During a recent interview, Gloria made these comments: “I am very passionate about the incredible work that is done by our grants community. To be recognized by the NGMA, clients, and colleagues for playing a role in making this great work more efficient and cost-effective is really quite humbling. Receiving this award means a great deal to me personally.”
