The Penthouse Club of Baltimore Offers To Host A Beer Summit Between President Donald Trump & Baltimore State Representative Elijah Cummings
The Tweets have been heating-up as they fly back and forth between Pres. Trump and Rep. Elijah Cummings. They both agree on the fact that there are areas of Baltimore that need immediate attention, but that’s all they can agree on.
Baltimore, Maryland, August 2, 2019, It is easy to see that President Donald Trump is not a fan of Baltimore, or the Democratic lawmaker that represents much of the city in Congress. In a series of tweets on Saturday, the Republican president described the Maryland metropolis as a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” that is “a very dangerous & filthy place.”
Trump went on the diatribe during an attack on Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings over the Democrat’s comments at a House hearing earlier this month with border patrol officials. Cummings, the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, erupted at acting Department of Homeland Security Sec. Kevin McAleenan during a hearing about the southern border July 18. Trump asserted that Cummings’ district, which includes half of the city of Baltimore and surrounding areas, has squandered government resources.
All of this social media bantering hurling insults back and forth does nothing to help the people of Baltimore that need it the most. Let’s not forget the homeless, victims of the opioid epidemic and the mentally ill. Baltimore has one of the highest murder rates of any major American city. In 2017, Baltimore posted the highest murder rate of any city with a population greater than 500,000, CBS Baltimore reported. There were 342 murders in 2017, and 309 last year, according to the New York Times.
Brian Shulman of The Penthouse Club of Baltimore has offered to host a Beer Summit between the two political figures. Brian said, “I think it is time to rise above politics and have a “Sit Down” at my club and have a real committed discussion without all of the political overtones. Leave them at the door and enter with the good of the people in mind.” The two leaders can meet with a shake of the hands and depart with a shake of the hands. Much can be accomplished in this easy-going atmosphere.
The Penthouse Club of Baltimore will be made available at the convenience of these two political foes. Now is the time. Baltimore is a great place to live and visit. When you’ve seen all the main attractions, take a stroll off the beaten path and discover things you will find only in Baltimore. Walk through the arts district in Mount Vernon. Shop Baltimore’s tradition of public markets at the Cross Street Market in Federal Hill. Savor authentic cuisine in Little Italy or Greektown.
