The author’s personal experiences are woven into poetic narratives and verses that share thoughts, feelings, and ideas about each situation. “Beauty” addresses societal pressures women and girls face in the name of beauty, and it confronts culturally insensitive messages that are ever-persistent in American culture.

Chandler, Arizona, March 22, 2023 – Poetry is a form of literature that has the power to evoke a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound, and rhythm, as defined in Britannica. Poetry is great at asking questions, at destabilizing and making people look at things in a different way, incorporating a diversity of voices and ways of thinking.

The latest book release at the start of National Poetry Month by Keishann Corley – Beauty – has that power. Readers are instantly moved by her words, which make a lasting impression. There may be thousands of books published each year, but only a handful have that power to move the reader down to their very soul. The author shows in her masterful prose that she is a wordsmith worthy of praise, and she has garnered many accolades as a result of this book.
