Clarksville, Tennessee, June 20, 2023, TPMA today announced it has partnered with the Clarksville Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) as their strategic consultant to lead an economic development strategic plan for the region. This is an important milestone for the Clarksville-Montgomery County EDC as it strives to promote a high standard of living with arts, entertainment and hospitality, support existing businesses, and attract high wage and high skill opportunities for residents.

“The team at TPMA was very happy to be selected to partner with the Clarksville. Montgomery County EDC,” said Cecilia Harry, Director of Economic Development with TPMA. “This is a region that has changed so much in the last decade and is poised for more growth. We admire that the EDC leadership is taking this next phase of planning seriously and wants to involve stakeholders in this process.”

The Clarksville Montgomery County EDC is a non-profit organization with the purpose of creating prosperity for all citizens of Clarksville and Montgomery County by executing and coordinating member-entity efforts to attract and grow a robust economic base of jobs and investment, to expand opportunities for tourism, and to encourage a thriving environment for business. Its member entities include:

  • Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Clarksville Montgomery County Industrial Development Board
  • Clarksville Montgomery County Tourist Commission (dba: Visit Clarksville)

The region has recently been recognized with remarkable accolades including #1 Place to Live (Money, 2019), #1 Most Desirable Zip Code for relocation (Opendoor.com, 2021), Hottest Zip Code (Opendoor.com, 2022), and #4 in Nation for Talent Attraction (Lightcast, 2022, formerly EMSI).

Industrial development, downtown re-development, and tourism are all on the rise in the area. The Nashville Region, which includes Montgomery County, is considering mass transit plans which may

include interstate upgrades, light rail, and new bus routes. A new $80+ million athletics complex is officially underway near Exit 8 on I-24 with the Clarksville City Council breaking ground on the site in August of 2022. Phase 1 will include 11 new soccer fields, an accessible playground and walking trail, concessions, restrooms, and over 700 parking spaces.

“An abundance of the resources and attributes in our community continues to drive interest and growth – available land for businesses to grow, quality schools and amenities for growing families, a thriving economy for entrepreneurs, and plentiful outdoor recreation. With all this to offer, plus charm and hospitality – the energy and momentum in Clarksville is undeniable. As we strive to enhance the local quality of life and to develop, strengthen and shape a bright and bold future for our community, we recognize that our citizens and their experience are our best asset and indicator of our success.” – Buck Dellinger, EDC CEO, Aspire Clarksville Foundation President.

The planning, which is already underway, includes robust research and inclusive stakeholder engagement. The TPMA team will be in town the week of June 19 to visit region and host sessions to hear from stakeholders, business leaders and community leaders.
